Logo Love: Giveaway Corner

I loved working on this logo, almost as much as I love this website!

Logo Love: Melli's Trinkets

I had a wonderful time working on this logo! You can check out more information on this company in my previous blog!

Creative Mom - Melli's Trinkets

Entry 2: Creative Moms!

I love Melli's Trinkets! Melli, the owner creates jewerly with a personalized touch. In my opinion it has quite the artsy flare to catch anyone's attention. I personally couldn't help but grab a really cute handmade pearl necklace from her Etsy site last night, as a small mother's day treat to myself.

I also have the honor of working on a completely custom branding package for this company. I love letting my creativity out of the box and working on something that is a bit "edgy". I can't wait to show off the logo once the final is approved, very soon. Take a moment to check out her blog and etsy page. If you hurry, she has a special for Mother's Day!

Sunnyside Baptist Church

I recently had the opportunity to develop a new logo for a self proclaimed,"God-Exalting, Christ-Centered, Spirit-Driven Old Country Church". It has been a joy to watch the endeavors of this church as my cousin Mat is the pastor. I was thrilled when he contacted me and even more excited as we began to discuss the beautiful results of great typography. He requested something timeless, classic, & tasteful. This allowed me to work on something a bit outside of the norm and to explore a variety of serif fonts.

I am quite happy with the outcome and love the simplicity of this logo. I also love the particular font we used for the word Sunnyside. It has a bit of casualness about it that for me evokes the ministry this church portrays to an outside.

Enjoy! Also check out the wonderful things my cousin is doing over at Sunnyside Baptist Church.

Per Se Photography

I couldn't have been happier with the winner of my giveaway, although I would have been more than happy to work on ALL of the entries.

I knew I would fall in love with this one from my very first visit to her website. The following is an excerpt from the beginning of the logo design process.

"I love that natural beauty that you seem to capture with your lens. Unfortunately, in the age of digital technology, the true art of photography seems to be dwindling away. However, when I find a photographer with a portfolio such as yours, I am filled with happiness."

We went through a few ideas before finally deciding that a simple font based logo would represent her work perfectly. Please enjoy the final logo and check out her photography at: http://www.persephotography.com/.

Feeling good....

Today was a good day. A great day actually. I am now officially a business owner, of an officially opened business. If I could wear a little name tag that says owner every day, I probably would. Considering Huddy is the only person I see most days, I am sure he wouldn't mind.

My very first grand opening day consisted of a few wonderful leads and projects that I can not wait to dive into. I love logo design and I have 2 very similar, yet strikingly different logos on my plate right now. It amazes me how two logos in the same field can have such different needs and how those needs can be met with something as simple as the choice between serif or sans serif. Yes, the girl who loves typography is definitely taking over right now.

There will be wonderful, beautiful, exciting additions to the blog next week...trust me on that one.

Also, The Individuality is currently hosting 3 giveaways in celebration of our grand opening. Please visit the following 3 links for your chance to win.

I love my job because...

I love my job because I get to work on super cute projects like this one! I spend my days surrounded by a baby boy, a sweet husband, and 3 boy dogs...(plus a boy cat when he makes an appearance). So it is nice to be a little girly and work on mommy cards. I really like this one, enough to scratch the name on it and put my own on there!

I love logos and photography...

As a designer, perhaps my very favorite item to work on is a logo. There is something about it that just makes me all giddy and excited. I love playing with the letters and switching out the colors. I also love watching a logo become the identity of a company. You can ask Spencer, long drives are turned into opportunities to point out great logos and well not so great ones too.

Not only do I love logos, I love photography, whether I am behind the camera or admiring the image the artist has captured with their lens. This particular logo was actually designed a few months back, but finalized this week. The best part, it not only brings out my love of logo design, but it is for a photography business! This woman is super busy being a great mom to her baby girl, a full time accountant, and starting her own business! Sounds a like a full plate, but trust me she has the dedication to make it all come to life.

I am looking forward to working on more marketing materials with her in the near future and excited to see her business expand, and hopefully find time to have her take some shots of Huddy. I was going to wait to share her logo until after I had sent her disk out, but I was just too excited after working on her logo package. Please enjoy and check out her blog and portfolio.

Is this really work?

I love my job.
I couldn't have picked a better major in college
or a better career path to follow.

After spending two wonderful years mostly working on websites (check out UnlocktheWeb), I have been enjoying the past couple of months exploring more of a print style. The newest project I am working on incorporates my love of print layouts with the convenience of the click of a mouse.

"Chiropractic Patient Care is the industry’s newest and most unique
media platform for patient retention and education. "

So you ask..what is my job? After receiving an article, I am able to creatively dive into it. Each article brings out a different feeling and vibe. My favorite part is deciding on the creative display for the title. I treat each one almost as a logo, choosing a font is the best part (look for an upcoming blog concerning typography, which I adore). From there, I choose photos to go with the article. Once the articles are completed, I take the magazine into an amazing program and turn it into a magazine. Users are able to flip the pages, zoom in on specific elements, search the entire document, and print off a copy.

Samples from past editions

Each cover is unique to the edition and the doctor or client who purchases a subscription. I really enjoy this process of turning a magazine into a tool for a specific client, each one is the same and different at the same time.

Logo Love

January brought the excited addition of two new magazines. I was so excited to be work on these from the very start. I love working on logos, it is probably my favorite part of being a graphic designer. I really enjoying working the concepts of logos for the three new magazines. One of which, might be my all time favorite logo design.

I am looking forward to exploring new design concepts
and watching this company grow.
